Classic Chicken Alfredo Pasta Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces cavatappi or penne pasta
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 2 ½ cups diced cooked chicken breast or chicken thighs
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  4. Add heavy cream and simmer until slightly thickened; do not boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until smooth. Add cream cheese and stir until melted.
  6. In a greased baking dish, combine cooked pasta, alfredo sauce, and cooked chicken. Spread evenly.
  7. Top with mozzarella cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with chopped parsley.
