Savory Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Begin by prepping the cabbage. Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until they become tender. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, carrot, celery, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Take a blanched cabbage leaf and place about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center. Roll up the leaf, tucking in the ends to encase the filling. Repeat this process with the remaining cabbage leaves and meat mixture.
  4. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls in it.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the condensed tomato soup with water. Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls in the baking dish.
  6. Bake the cabbage rolls at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for approximately 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the meat is cooked through.
  7. Once done, serve the stuffed cabbage rolls immediately, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy the hearty flavors and comforting warmth of this classic dish!
