Instant Pot Round Steak & Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 4 to 6 slices of Round Steak
  • 2 Pouches of Onion Gravy
  • 2 cups of Hot Water
  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion, Sliced
  • 3 Cloves of Garlic, Peeled and Smashed
  • 2 tablespoons of Butter

Instructions:

  1. Begin by searing both sides of the round steak in a skillet with 1 tablespoon of butter. Sear each side for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. In the Instant Pot, sauté the onions and garlic with 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Add the seared meat slices to the pot.
  4. Dissolve the two pouches of gravy in 2 cups of hot water.
  5. Pour the dissolved gravy over the meat and onions.
  6. Set the Instant Pot to the meat setting and cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.
  7. Release the steam and serve.

This delectable dish pairs excellently with creamy mashed potatoes and buttery corn, though rice or egg noodles are also viable options. For slow cooker adaptation, sear the meat and brown the onions and mushrooms in a skillet before adding them to the crock with the gravy mix. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Ensure the crock’s lid remains on to expedite cooking. Alternatively, for oven preparation, follow the same steps as the crock method, but transfer the meat, onions, and gravy to a casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 2.5 hours. Mushrooms can be included for added flavor, and for a creamier texture, consider incorporating a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup.
