Ingredients:

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup Dutch-Processed Cocoa Powder, sifted
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 3 Large Eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ cup Sour Cream, at room temperature
  • 1 cup Milk, at room temperature
  • 1 cup Hot Coffee
  • Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch baking pans by greasing them with butter, flouring them, and lining the bottoms with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of baking powder. Whisk them together and set aside.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup of Dutch-processed cocoa powder with ½ cup of vegetable oil and whisk until smooth.
  4. Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together ½ cup of unsalted butter until smooth. Add the cocoa mixture, ½ cup of light brown sugar, and 1½ cups of granulated sugar. Mix for about 5 minutes until light and fluffy, scraping down the bowl as needed.
  5. With the mixer on low speed, add 3 room temperature eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry mixture in thirds, alternating with ½ cup of sour cream and ½ cup of milk.
  6. Mix until just combined, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl with a spatula. Stir in 1 cup of hot coffee until the batter is uniform in consistency.
  7. Divide the batter equally between the prepared baking pans and bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the center is set.
  8. To make the chocolate buttercream frosting, whip butter in the bowl of a stand mixer for 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Add ½ cup of cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  9. Gradually add 6 to 8 cups of powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed. Add 3 tablespoons of cream to achieve the desired consistency.
  10. Once the cakes are completely cooled, assemble by placing one layer on a plate, spreading a generous amount of frosting on top, and repeating with the second layer. Cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting, smoothing it out evenly.

Indulge in the rich and decadent flavors of our Chocolate Cake, and let each bite transport you to pure bliss. Enjoy!
