Creamy Cheese Sauces for Fries

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns light golden.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue whisking until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using). Stir well to combine.
  5. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.

Pour the creamy cheese sauce over hot, crispy fries and enjoy!
