Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns light golden.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue whisking until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using). Stir well to combine.
- Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
