Sesame Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup butter or ghee
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
For Topping
- Egg yolk
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast. Mix well.
- Add the butter and mix thoroughly.
- Gradually add the egg, warm water, and milk while kneading until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into small balls. Roll out each ball and then shape it into braids.
- Place the braided dough on a greased baking sheet. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds as shown in the picture.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Enjoy your freshly baked sesame bread!
