Turkish Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 ½ cups of flour (1.1 kg)
- 1.7 cups of warm water (400 ml)
- 1.7 cups of yogurt (400 ml)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 packet of dry instant yeast (10 g)
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- ½ cup of butter (60 g)
Method
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, yogurt, salt, and warm water. Mix until a smooth dough forms. Coat the dough with vegetable oil, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest in a warm, dry place until it doubles in size.
- Divide and Rest: Once the dough has risen, oil your hands and gently remove it from the bowl. Divide the dough into eight equal portions, forming each into a ball. Allow the dough balls to rest for 15 minutes.
- Shape and Cook: Roll each dough ball into a circle. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook each circle of dough until golden brown on both sides.
- Finish with Butter: While the bread is still warm, brush it with melted butter for a delicious finish.
