Method:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    In a large bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Mixing:
    Gradually add the water to the dry ingredients, mixing well until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Resting Period:
    Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
  4. Folding the Dough:
    After 1 hour, gently press down on the dough to deflate it slightly. Fold the dough over itself from the edges towards the center, repeating this process at least 3 times to build structure.
  5. Preparing for Baking:
    Preheat your Dutch oven in the oven at 250°C/480°F for about 30 minutes.
  6. Baking Process:
    Carefully place the dough into the hot Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Final Baking:
    After 30 minutes, remove the lid from the Dutch oven and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes or until the bread is beautifully golden brown.
  8. Cooling:
    Once baked, remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before slicing. This resting period helps in achieving the perfect texture.
