Beef Stew Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, diced
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon raw sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 stalks celery, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix

Instructions:

  1. Brown the diced beef stew meat in olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes. Transfer the meat to a slow cooker.
  2. Add 2 cups of water to the slow cooker along with Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bay leaves, onion, salt, sugar, black pepper, smoked paprika, turmeric, onion powder, and ground cloves. Stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  4. 45 minutes before serving, in a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water until dissolved. Stir the cornstarch mixture and the Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix into the slow cooker.
  5. Continue cooking on high for an additional 30-45 minutes, until the stew thickens slightly.
  6. Remove bay leaves before serving. Enjoy your delicious beef stew!
