Ingredients

  • 650g boiled potatoes
  • 40g softened butter
  • 1 tsp salt

  • 100g tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 650g ground meat
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 egg
  • 60g (1/2 cup) breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potato Layer: In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, butter, salt, pepper, and dill. Mash and mix until smooth.
  2. Prepare the Tomato Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the tomato paste, olive oil, salt, and oregano until well-blended.
  3. Prepare the Meatballs: In another bowl, combine the ground meat, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, egg, breadcrumbs, and chopped onion. Mix thoroughly, then shape the mixture into small meatballs.
  4. Assemble the Cake: In a baking dish, spread the potato mixture as the base layer. Evenly distribute the tomato sauce on top, followed by the meatballs.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in a preheated oven at 180°C (360°F) and bake for 35 minutes.
  6. Finish with Cheese: Remove from the oven, sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella, and return to the oven for a few minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden.
