A hearty and flavorful pasta bake that combines the classic tastes of a bacon cheeseburger into a comforting one-pan meal. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a family gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 packet bacon, diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dill relish
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups mild cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 12 ounces penne pasta

Instructions

  1. Cook penne pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook diced bacon until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Reserve the bacon fat in the skillet.
  3. Add diced onion and ground beef to the skillet with the bacon fat. Cook, breaking up the beef, until browned. Drain excess grease.
  4. Stir in Montreal steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, dill relish, and tomato sauce.
  5. Gently fold in the heavy whipping cream until combined.
  6. Mix in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and half of the crispy bacon until the cheese is melted.
  7. Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and stir to combine with the beef mixture.
  8. Transfer the pasta mixture to a baking dish. Top with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese and the rest of the crispy bacon.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef for a lighter option.
  • If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
  • Experiment with different cheese blends like cheddar and Monterey Jack.
