Delightful, crispy Baked ‘Honey’ Mustard Tofu Tenders are a vegan masterpiece that combines a crunchy texture with a sweet and tangy flavor.

  • 1 block Extra Firm Tofu
  • 12 tbsp Olive or Neutral Oil
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.5 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Paprika Powder
  • 3/4 cup Room Temperature Water
  • 11.5 cups Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 2 tbsp Neutral Oil for Coating
  • 6 tbsp Agave or Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 cup Yellow or Dijon Mustard
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Dash of Pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together agave or maple syrup, yellow or Dijon mustard, a pinch of salt, and a dash of pepper. Set aside.
  2. Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean towel. Press for about 10 minutes to extract excess moisture.
  3. Slice tofu into 1-inch thick strips.
  4. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and paprika. Gradually stir in water until smooth.
  5. Dip each tofu piece in the batter, then roll in panko bread crumbs.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and arrange the tofu tenders on a lined baking tray. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Remove from oven and coat with the prepared sauce. Bake for an additional 5-8 minutes.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes, then serve hot.
