Birria Wings with Consomé
Birria Wings with Consomé
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot chili-garlic sauce (such as sriracha)
- 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 16 chicken wings, wing tips removed
- Vegetable oil
- Kosher salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, hot chili-garlic sauce, sesame oil, and grated ginger.
- Trim the Wings: Remove any excess skin from the edges of the chicken wings.
- Season the Wings: Lightly brush or spray the wings with vegetable oil, then season with kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste.
- Grill the Wings: Preheat your grill to medium heat. Grill the chicken wings over direct medium heat for about 10 minutes, turning once or twice, until the skin begins to crisp.
- Apply the Glaze: Brush the wings with the prepared glaze. Continue to grill for an additional 8 to 10 minutes, turning and brushing with the glaze 2 or 3 more times, until the meat is no longer pink at the bone.
- Serve: Serve the wings warm and enjoy.
Alternative Baking Method
- Initial Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the wings for 45 minutes.
- Final Bake with Sauce: Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Brush the wings with the glaze and bake for an additional 20 minutes, until the skin is browned and the sauce has thickened.
