  • 1.5 cups Margarine (Substitute with butter if desired.)
  • 0.5 cups SPLENDA® Naturals Sugar & Stevia Sweetener Blend (Regular granulated sugar can be used.)
  • 1 tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract (Adds depth of flavor.)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Almond Extract (Provides a subtle nutty aroma.)
  • 3.25 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 0.125 teaspoon Salt
  • 11.5 ounces Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 0.75 cups Chopped Maraschino Cherries (Juices drained.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream margarine and SPLENDA® blend for about 2 minutes until fluffy. Then add vanilla and almond extracts.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in dark chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
  6. Spread the dough evenly in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool in the dish for a few minutes, then refrigerate for about 1 hour.
  9. Cut the bars into 48 squares and serve at room temperature.
