Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir until just combined.
  5. If desired, fold in the chopped nuts and dried cranberries or apples at this stage.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
