Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Milk (Can substitute with almond milk.)
  • 2/3 cup Brown Sugar (Light brown sugar can be used.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (Use more for stronger flavor.)
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder (Ensure it’s fresh.)
  • 2 cups Granny Smith Apples (Can substitute with any firm apple variety.)
  • 2 cups Flour (All-purpose is recommended; use gluten-free 1:1 blend if needed.)
  • 1 cup Sugar (Granulated sugar can be replaced with coconut sugar.)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Pure vanilla preferred.)
  • 2 large Eggs (Can use flaxseed meal for vegan.)
  • 1/2 cup Butter (Can substitute with unsweetened applesauce.)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar (Sugar-free option available.)
  • 1 tablespoon Additional Milk (Can substitute with any milk alternative.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×5-inch bread pan with parchment paper and non-stick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and set aside.
  3. Coat 2 cups of chopped Granny Smith apples with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  4. Cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 2/3 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, blending smoothly.
  5. Whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, then mix in 1/2 cup of milk until smooth.
  6. Layer half of the batter in the prepared pan, followed by half of the apple mixture and half of the cinnamon sugar. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  7. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes.
  8. Mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled bread.
