Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Trim the Brussels sprouts by cutting off the stem end and removing any yellow or damaged leaves. Cut them in half lengthwise.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts with the garlic butter. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Toss to coat evenly.
  5. Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet, cut side down.
  6. Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the pan halfway through.
  7. Remove from the oven and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Toss gently.
  8. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For maximum crispiness, ensure Brussels sprouts are in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • Do not burn the garlic when sautéing; this will result in a bitter taste.
  • Frozen Brussels sprouts can be used, but fresh will yield a crispier result.
