Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 (16-ounce) package smoked Kielbasa sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 carrots, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 corn on the cob cut into large chunks
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a Dutch oven. Add sausage and cook until browned. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  2. Add butter to the grease in the Dutch oven and cook carrots, onion, and corn over medium heat until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
