Roll Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1.5 cups flour

For Cream:

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons starch
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pack vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pack whipped cream

For the Interior:

  • 1.5 bananas

Instructions:

Prepare the Cream:

In a saucepan, combine milk, granulated sugar, egg yolk, flour, and starch. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and butter. Cover with plastic wrap and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.

Make the Cake:

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Separate egg whites and yolks into different bowls. Beat egg whites with a little sugar until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, beat egg yolks with remaining sugar until creamy. Mix in warm water, then sifted flour. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites. Pour batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool slightly.

Assemble the Roll Cake:

Lay a clean kitchen towel flat and dust lightly with powdered sugar. Carefully invert the baked cake onto the towel. Peel off parchment paper. Spread prepared cream mixture evenly over the cake. Slice bananas and arrange evenly over the cream. Carefully roll the cake using the towel to guide, rolling from one short end to the other. Place seam-side down on a serving dish.

Final Touches:

Add whipped cream to remaining cream mixture and beat until fluffy. Spread whipped cream mixture over the rolled cake. Use a fork to create decorative patterns on the surface. Optionally, decorate with additional bananas or other fruits.

Serve and Enjoy:

Chill the roll cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before slicing. Slice and serve cold. Enjoy your delicious roll cake!
