Ham & White Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb package of dried Northern beans
  • Ham bone, hocks, shanks, or diced ham (approximately 1 pound)
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse and sort the beans to remove any pebbles or debris.
  2. Place the rinsed beans, onion powder, salt, pepper, and ham into the crock pot.
  3. Add the water.
  4. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours, or until the beans are tender.
  5. Remove the ham bone, shanks, or hocks, and shred the meat.
  6. Return the shredded meat to the crock pot and stir well.
  7. Serve hot with cornbread.
