  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 oz. marshmallows (mini or regular)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles or heart-shaped candies (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
  3. Add marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add food coloring if desired.
  5. Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until evenly coated.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to press it firmly into an even layer.
  7. Allow the mixture to cool for about 30 minutes, or until set.
  8. Once cooled, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes from the Rice Krispie treat mixture.
  9. Place the heart-shaped treats on a serving platter and decorate with sprinkles or heart-shaped candies as desired.
