Homemade Garlic Cheese Bread Rolls
Ingredients:
- 70 ml warm water
- 70 ml warm milk
- 1 teaspoon dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 320g all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- 60g butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 egg yolk mixed with a teaspoon of milk (for egg wash)
- Poppy seeds (for sprinkling)
Instructions:
Prepare the Yeast Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and warm milk.
- Sprinkle the dry yeast and sugar over the liquid. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy,
indicating that the yeast is active.
Make the Dough:
- Add the egg and melted butter to the yeast mixture and whisk to combine.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough begins to form.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until
doubled in size.
Prepare Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and honey until well
combined.
Shape and Fill the Bread:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread the garlic butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the long edge, to encase the filling.
- Cut the roll into sections that will fit into a greased baking dish. Arrange the sections in the dish, cut side
up.
Final Touches:
- Brush the tops of the dough with the egg yolk and milk mixture. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
- Allow the dough to rise for another 30 minutes in the baking dish.
Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve:
Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the best experience!
