Homemade Six-Armed Bracelet Baklava: Crunchy and Economical Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup liquid milk
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vinegar + lemon juice
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- A pinch of salt
Syrup:
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice + a thin lemon slice
- 1 teaspoon rose water
Walnut Filling:
- 3/4 cup walnuts
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon rose water
Additional Ingredients:
- Ample amount of cornstarch
For Brushing and Soaking the Baklava:
- 1 cup ghee
- 1/3 cup oil
Instructions:
Preparing the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the oil, milk, yogurt, and egg. Mix well.
- Add the baking powder, vinegar, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing continuously until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest.
Making the Syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add lemon juice and the lemon slice. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in the rose water, and let it cool completely.
Preparing the Filling:
- Finely chop the walnuts and mix with shredded coconut, sugar, and rose water. Set aside.
Assembling the Baklava:
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll each piece out thinly using a generous amount of cornstarch to prevent sticking.
- Layer several rolled-out sheets, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- Spread the walnut filling evenly over the dough layers.
- Roll the dough into a log shape and cut into small pieces.
- Place the pieces in a baking tray, brush generously with ghee and oil mixture.
Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the baklava until golden brown and crispy.
Finishing:
- Immediately after removing the baklava from the oven, pour the cooled syrup evenly over the hot baklava.
- Allow it to soak and cool completely before serving.
