Ingredients

  • 4 ripe tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1520 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the tomatoes and basil leaves thoroughly. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Cut the tomatoes into thick slices or wedges.
  3. Cut the fresh mozzarella into thick slices, similar in thickness to the tomatoes.
  4. On a serving platter, alternate slices of tomatoes and mozzarella in an overlapping pattern. Add basil leaves between the layers.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar evenly over the salad.
  6. Sprinkle salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately.
