Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 large croissants, preferably day-old
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1 cup cooked ham or cooked sausage, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and whole milk until well combined. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese and cooked ham or sausage, if using. Add the chopped spinach.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant pieces.
  5. Gently press down on the croissant pieces to help them absorb the egg mixture.
  6. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
  8. Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the casserole to cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving.
  10. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs before slicing and serving.
