🍝 Homemade Marinara Sauce Recipe 🍅

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste.
  5. Add the dried basil, dried oregano, dried thyme, sugar, salt, and pepper, and stir to combine.
  6. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  8. Serve hot over cooked spaghetti noodles, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil, if desired.
