Perfectly Cooked Ribeye Steak
Perfectly Cooked Ribeye Steak
Ingredients:
- 1 ribeye steak
- Sea salt flakes
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 50g butter
- 2 sprigs of thyme
- 1 clove of garlic, crushed with its skin
Instructions:
- Remove the steak from the refrigerator at least half an hour before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature. This step ensures even cooking.
- Generously season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides, ensuring even coverage.
- Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. If cooking two steaks, ensure the pan is large enough to fit both comfortably. Alternatively, use two pans simultaneously.
- Add the steak to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, adjusting based on desired thickness and doneness. A 3cm steak typically cooks in about 5 minutes. For desired doneness, aim for internal temperatures of 50°C for rare, 60°C for medium, and 70°C for well-done, using a meat thermometer if available.
- After turning the steak for the first time, add the butter, thyme, and garlic to the pan. Tilt the pan towards you to collect the butter at the bottom, then repeatedly pour it over the steak while cooking for an additional minute.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes. Resting is essential as it allows the meat particles to relax and reabsorb their juices, ensuring a moist and flavorful result.
- Slice the steak into strips, season as desired, and serve with your choice of side dishes and sauce. Enjoy!
