Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 thick slices sturdy bread, such as sourdough or Italian
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 24 thin slices pepperoni

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, blend softened unsalted butter, grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt until the mixture is uniformly combined.
  2. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce or marinara sauce over 4 bread slices.
  3. Top each with an even layer of shredded mozzarella cheese and 6 slices of pepperoni.
  4. Cover with remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  5. Generously coat the outer sides of each sandwich with the prepared garlic butter mixture.
  6. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Grill sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese has fully melted.
  8. Slice sandwiches in half and serve immediately, accompanied by extra warm marinara sauce if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add more Italian seasoning to the garlic butter mixture.
  • You can substitute the pepperoni with other toppings like veggies or different types of cheese.
