Recipe: Homemade Chocoflan
Ingredients:
- 125g chocolate, melted
- 80g butter, at room temperature
- 3 medium eggs
- 125g sugar
- 80g wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
For the flan:
- 300ml milk
- 4 large eggs
- 120g sugar
For the caramel:
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon water
Preparation:
- Prepare the Mold: Grease the mold with cooking spray or butter and flour. Pour the caramel mixture into the mold.
- Prepare the Chocolate Cake:
- Melt the butter in the microwave. Add chopped chocolate to the melted butter and whisk until smooth. Microwave for a few seconds more if needed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until pale. Add this mixture to the melted chocolate and butter. Stir with a spatula to combine.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt to the chocolate mixture. Mix gently with a whisk on low speed to avoid incorporating air. Pour this batter into the prepared mold.
- Prepare the Flan:
- In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until pale and creamy. Gradually add milk while mixing with a spatula until well combined.
- Pour the flan mixture gently over the chocolate batter in the mold, using the spatula to prevent splashing.
- Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 180-190°C (356-374°F). Place the mold in a larger baking dish filled with hot water, ensuring the water reaches about halfway up the side of the mold.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
- To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs, not wet.
- Let the chocoflan cool in the mold, then invert onto a serving plate to unmold.
This decadent homemade chocoflan combines the richness of chocolate cake with the smoothness of flan, making it a perfect dessert for any occasion. Enjoy!
