Red Velvet Cupcakes: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe You’ll Love

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: Red velvet cupcake liners

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until the batter is smooth and fully mixed. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cupcakes cool in the tin for about 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them with cream cheese frosting using a piping bag or a spatula.
  9. If desired, add sprinkles or other toppings for an extra touch of flair.

Notes

  • Store cupcakes in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
