- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- Mini pretzels (for antlers)
- Red candy (like M&Ms) for the nose
- Candy eyes (available at baking supply stores)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
- In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Place the cupcake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, use chocolate frosting to generously frost the tops of each cupcake.
- Add two mini pretzels to each cupcake for antlers. Place a red candy for the nose and two candy eyes to create the reindeer face.
