Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup Butter (or margarine for dairy-free)
40 count Large Marshmallows (or mini marshmallows for easier melting)
6 cups Rice Krispies (or any crisped rice cereal)
Red & Yellow Liquid Food Coloring (or gel for vibrant results)
Mini Rolos (or Tootsie Rolls)
Green M&Ms (or Green Skittles)
1/4 cup Cooking Oil (or melted butter for easy handling)
Instructions
Melt butter in a large pot over low heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring continually.
Add large marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly for 3–4 minutes until fully melted and smooth.
Remove from heat. Stir in yellow food coloring, then gradually add red food coloring until a vibrant orange hue is achieved.
Gently fold in the Rice Krispies until fully coated, mixing for about 2 minutes.
Coat your hands with cooking oil. Roll the mixture into pumpkin-sized balls (2–3 inches in diameter).
While still warm, press a Mini Rolo into the top of each pumpkin to create a stem. Place a green M&M next to it for a leaf.
Allow the Rice Krispie Treat Pumpkins to cool completely for about 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
For easier handling, coat your hands with cooking oil or melted butter when shaping the treats.
If the mixture cools too much, create small indents with a marker before adding candy decorations.
Consider gel food coloring for more vibrant orange results.
