Savory Beef Tips Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs beef tips or stew meat
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional; can substitute additional beef broth)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add beef tips and sear until browned on all sides, approximately 5-7 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in beef broth, red wine (if using), Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, and dried rosemary. Bring mixture to a boil.
  5. Return beef tips to skillet, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until beef is tender.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together flour and water until smooth. Gradually stir mixture into skillet to thicken gravy.
  7. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until gravy has thickened to desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
