Sesame Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup butter or ghee
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

For Topping

  • Egg yolk
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast. Mix well.
  2. Add the butter and mix thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add the egg, warm water, and milk while kneading until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll out each ball and then shape it into braids.
  6. Place the braided dough on a greased baking sheet. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  7. Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds as shown in the picture.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Enjoy your freshly baked sesame bread!
