Ingredients
Scale
6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional toppings (chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or sprinkles)
Instructions
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove the stems and insert a wooden stick or skewer into the top of each apple.
Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, butter, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil and reaches a golden-brown color.
Coat the Apples: Once the caramel is ready, quickly dip or drizzle it over the apples on the prepared sheet pan. Make sure each apple is well-coated in the luscious caramel.
Add Toppings: If desired, sprinkle your choice of toppings over the caramel-coated apples before the caramel sets. Allow them to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use fresh apples for the best flavor.
Work quickly with the caramel to avoid it hardening.
