Soft Loaf Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 200ml (3/4 cup + 2 tbsp) warm water
  • 7g (2 tsp) dry yeast
  • 350g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 50g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 45g (3 tbsp) butter

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast: Dissolve the dry yeast in the warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Incorporate Butter: Gradually add the butter to the dough, continuing to knead until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough is soft and smooth.
  6. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  7. Shape the Dough: Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Second Rise: Cover the loaf pan with a damp cloth and let the dough rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  9. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Cool: Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
