Spaghetti Pie Recipe πΏπ π₯¬π§ππΏ

Ingredients π
Spaghetti Crust:
- 200g (7oz) Spaghetti
- 1 tbsp (15g) Butter, melted
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese
Ricotta Layer:
- 400g (14oz) Ricotta
- 2 tbsp Fresh Basil, chopped
Meat Sauce:
- 250g (8.8oz) Ground Beef
- 250g (8.8oz) Ground Pork
- 1 Medium Onion, chopped
- 700g (24.7oz) Jar Tomato Juice (Passata)
- 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- 2 tbsp Fresh Basil, chopped
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Piri Piri Seasoning (mixed chili seasoning)
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Topping:
- 1 Cup (100g) Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese
- Freshly Ground Pepper
- Fresh Basil for garnish
Method:
Meat Sauce:
- In a pan, fry the onions in a little olive oil until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and pork, cooking until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste and tomato juice, followed by dried oregano, chopped basil, piri seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Ricotta Layer:
- In a small bowl, mix the ricotta and chopped basil.
Spaghetti Crust and Assembly:
- In a medium bowl, mix the eggs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions, drain, and toss into the egg mixture.
- Butter a 20cm (8-inch) springform cake tin. Press the spaghetti mixture into the tin, forming a crust at the base and 3/4 up the sides.
- Spread the ricotta mixture over the spaghetti base.
- Top with the meat sauce, followed by shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and freshly ground pepper.
- Place the tin on a baking tray lined with baking paper to catch any leakage. Bake in a preheated oven at 200Β°C (400Β°F) for 30-45 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before removing from the tin.
Serve the Spaghetti Pie on its own or with a crisp salad and warm garlic bread. Enjoy!
