Strawberry Bombs
Ingredients:
- 300g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 45g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 7g (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 140ml (3/5 cup) warm milk
- 40g (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
For Decoration:
- Whipped cream
- Chopped strawberries
- Powdered sugar
Method:
- In a medium bowl, combine sugar, yeast, and warm milk, stirring until yeast is dissolved.
- Whisk in the egg. Add flour and salt, then begin mixing with a spatula. Continue kneading by hand until the dough becomes stretchy.
- Incorporate softened butter into the dough, kneading until fully combined. Form the dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel. Allow it to rise for 1 hour.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Flatten each ball slightly, then reshape into balls. Cover again and let rest for another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to low heat. Fry the dough balls for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.
- Slice each ball horizontally like a burger bun. Spread whipped cream and chopped strawberries onto one half, then close with the other half. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
