Texas Toast Sloppy Joes
Texas Toast Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
- 1 small onion, finely diced (approximately 1 cup)
- 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey or chicken)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet and Spicy)
- 6 slices Texas Toast garlic bread
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Begin by finely dicing 1 small onion. In a large skillet, combine the diced onion with 1 pound of ground beef (or your preferred alternative). Cook over medium-high heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, typically 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce to the cooked ground beef and onions. Stir well to evenly coat the meat. Feel free to use a barbecue sauce with your preferred level of sweetness and spice. We recommend Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet and Spicy for a delightful kick!
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange 6 slices of frozen Texas Toast garlic bread on the sheet. Bake for 5-8 minutes or until the garlic bread is lightly toasted.
- Once the garlic bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of garlic bread, dividing it evenly among them.
- Sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the top of each sloppy joe.
- Return the loaded garlic bread to the oven and bake just until the cheese is melted, approximately 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and serve immediately, while hot and gooey.
