Traditional Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 250g mascarpone cheese
- 100g sugar
- 200ml whipping cream
- Zest of 2 lemons
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 200ml strong coffee
- 2 tablespoons lemon liqueur (limoncello), optional
- Ladyfingers biscuits
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Thin lemon slices for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare Mascarpone Mixture:
- In a bowl, separate egg whites from yolks. Beat yolks with sugar until creamy and pale.
- Add mascarpone cheese and lemon zest, mixing until smooth and homogeneous.
- Whipped Cream:
- In another bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture.
- Flavor Mixture:
- Add lemon juice and lemon liqueur (if using) to the mascarpone mixture. Mix well.
- Coffee Soaking:
- In a deep plate, combine strong coffee with a hint of lemon zest.
- Assembly:
- Lightly dip ladyfingers into coffee mixture and arrange them on the bottom of a serving dish.
- Spread a layer of mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat layers of soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
- Chilling:
- Refrigerate tiramisu for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set.
- Finishing Touches:
- Before serving, dust the top layer with cocoa powder.
- Garnish with thin slices of lemon.
