Traditional Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 250g mascarpone cheese
  • 100g sugar
  • 200ml whipping cream
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 200ml strong coffee
  • 2 tablespoons lemon liqueur (limoncello), optional
  • Ladyfingers biscuits
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Thin lemon slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Mascarpone Mixture:
    • In a bowl, separate egg whites from yolks. Beat yolks with sugar until creamy and pale.
    • Add mascarpone cheese and lemon zest, mixing until smooth and homogeneous.
  2. Whipped Cream:
    • In another bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form.
    • Gently fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture.
  3. Flavor Mixture:
    • Add lemon juice and lemon liqueur (if using) to the mascarpone mixture. Mix well.
  4. Coffee Soaking:
    • In a deep plate, combine strong coffee with a hint of lemon zest.
  5. Assembly:
    • Lightly dip ladyfingers into coffee mixture and arrange them on the bottom of a serving dish.
    • Spread a layer of mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
    • Repeat layers of soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
  6. Chilling:
    • Refrigerate tiramisu for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set.
  7. Finishing Touches:
    • Before serving, dust the top layer with cocoa powder.
    • Garnish with thin slices of lemon.
