- 1 egg
- 1 teacup of oil
- 1 teaspoon of yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of water
- 1/2 tablespoon of salt
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
- 4.5-5 cups of flour
For the Filling:
- 3 dry onions
- 3 tablespoons of oil
- 500 g medium-fat ground beef
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Oregano
- Ground red pepper
For the Topping:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon of milk
Instructions
For the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 egg, a teacup of oil, yogurt, water, salt, baking powder, and vinegar. Mix thoroughly.
- Gradually add 4.5-5 cups of flour to the mixture, kneading until a smooth, elastic dough forms. Cover with a clean cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
For the Filling:
- Finely chop the dry onions.
- Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until translucent.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked.
- Season with salt, black pepper, oregano, and ground red pepper to taste. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Assembly:
- Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface until very thin, almost paper-thin.
- Cut the dough into small squares, approximately 4×4 cm in size.
- Place a small amount of the prepared beef filling in the center of each dough square.
- Fold the dough over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle shape, pressing the edges tightly to seal.
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the Manti until they float to the surface, usually for about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a serving dish.
For the Topping:
- Whisk together 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of milk in a small bowl.
To Serve:
- Drizzle the egg yolk and milk mixture over the cooked Manti.
- Optionally, top with melted butter or garlic yogurt sauce.
