  • 2 sticks Cinnamon (Fresh sticks are preferred.)
  • 1 bean Vanilla Beans (Fresh beans enhance aroma.)
  • 1 piece Star Anise (Optional, adds a licorice note.)
  • 2 teaspoons Loose-leaf Black Tea (High-quality blends recommended.)
  • 1 cup Milk (Regular or dairy-free alternatives.)
  • to taste Honey or Sweetener (Adjust sweetness as desired.)

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a medium-sized pot over high heat for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches a rolling boil.
  2. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cinnamon sticks and vanilla. Add star anise if using. Cover and steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Add loose-leaf black tea or tea bags to the pot and cover again. Steep for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  4. While steeping, heat the milk in a small saucepan over low to medium heat until warm but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the tea and spice mixture into the saucepan with the warmed milk.
  6. Sweeten to taste with honey or sweetener, then pour into mugs and serve.
