Orange Chicken Recipe

ORANGE CHICKEN RECIPE

Batter Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup cold water (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6-8 boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Oil for frying

Orange Sauce Ingredients:

  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 4 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, pepper, egg, and cold water to make the batter. Adjust the consistency by slowly adding more water if needed.
  2. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, using a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the orange sauce by mixing orange juice, orange zest, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and the cornstarch-water mixture in a separate bowl.
  5. In a separate saucepan over medium heat, pour in the prepared orange sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer and let it thicken.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to the pan with the simmering orange sauce. Stir to coat the chicken evenly and allow the sauce to thicken further.
  7. Serve the orange chicken hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Enjoy! 😋❤️
