Delightful Halloween Brain Cupcakes with a gooey raspberry jam center for a spooky celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch Vanilla or Strawberry Cupcake Mix (can substitute with red velvet for a dramatic appearance)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened for easier blending)
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar (to create the buttercream frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (for flavor enhancement)
  • 12 tablespoons Milk or Cream (to adjust frosting consistency)
  • 1 set Gel Colors (Pink, Warm Brown/Ivory for creating brain design effects)
  • 1 pinch Salt (to balance sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup Raspberry Jam (for a gory ‘blood’ effect)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine cupcake ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth.
  3. Fill muffin tin with cupcake liners and fill each cup about two-thirds full.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  5. Cool the cupcakes in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy.
  7. Add vanilla and salt.
  8. Gradually stir in milk until smooth, then add pink gel color until desired shade is reached.
  9. Frost cooled cupcakes with a thin layer of pink buttercream, creating a scored line for the brain design.
  10. Using a piping bag, pipe squiggly lines to mimic brain folds. Don’t worry about perfection for a fun effect.
  11. Add a second layer of squiggles for dimension and refrigerate for 5 minutes to set.
  12. Spoon or drizzle raspberry jam into the crevices of the piped buttercream to create the appearance of oozy blood.
  13. Serve your Halloween Brain Cupcakes on a platter for a spooky treat.

Notes
