ORANGE CHICKEN RECIPE
Batter Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/3 cup cold water (adjust for desired consistency)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6-8 boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Oil for frying
Orange Sauce Ingredients:
- Juice of 2 oranges
- Zest of 1 orange
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 4 tablespoons cold water
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, pepper, egg, and cold water to make the batter. Adjust the consistency by slowly adding more water if needed.
- Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, using a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
- Meanwhile, prepare the orange sauce by mixing orange juice, orange zest, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and the cornstarch-water mixture in a separate bowl.
- In a separate saucepan over medium heat, pour in the prepared orange sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer and let it thicken.
- Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to the pan with the simmering orange sauce. Stir to coat the chicken evenly and allow the sauce to thicken further.
- Serve the orange chicken hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Enjoy! 😋❤️
