Swedish Meatballs Crockpot: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix gently until combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet as you go.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs on all sides for added flavor. This step is optional but recommended for a richer taste.
  4. Place the meatballs in the crockpot.
  5. Pour the beef broth over the meatballs, ensuring they are mostly submerged.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  7. Once cooking is complete, carefully remove the meatballs and set them aside. In a bowl, mix sour cream and cornstarch to create a smooth sauce.
  8. Stir the sour cream mixture into the broth in the crockpot, mixing well.
  9. Place the meatballs back in the crockpot, stirring to coat them in the sauce.
  10. Allow the meatballs to warm through for about 15 minutes before serving.
